In comparing our 66" TOS Enterprise to the original, we went ahead and made DVD screen grabs from "Space Seed", then photographed ours to match the same angle and lighting, as best as we could. The bottom photo was taken after completion in nearly the same angle, but shows that the overall likeness is firmly there to be compared with the original profile |
The 66" TOS Enterprise is a recreation based on the very best AutoCAD information available. That is to say, the information by which we derived our 1/2 scale recreation was based on actual measurements taken from the original 11 foot TV miniature, then input into 2D AutoCAD and then printed out into useable plans. These measurements combined with photography taken during the historic 1991 restoration of the original became the "Enterprise bible", by which all decisions were made.
The above row of photos shows the patterning process that was carried out from 2000 to 2002. Intense investigation was put into matching the nacelle power dome lighting units, which feature rotating fans and random blinking colored LEDS. |
